Mr Dawson graduated in 2010 with an MBChB and a First Class Intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He then completed an Academic Foundation Programme at NHS Grampian. Thereafter, he completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery Registrar training in the East Midlands, working in Leicester and Nottingham. In 2025, Mr Dawson was appointed as a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. Mr Dawson integrates compassionate, patient-centred care with medical research. His academic work has focussed on collaborative research in the field of Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma earning him a Master’s Degree and he is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Leicester. Mr Dawson maintains a comprehensive Thoracic Surgery practice, including: lung cancer surgery (including minimally invasive techniques), lung volume reduction surgery, pneumothorax, pulmonary metastatectomy, mediastinal tumours, chest wall surgery, diaphragm disorders and advanced endobronchial treatments. In his personal time, he enjoys walking and spending time with his Wife and family.
