Sanjay is a Consultant in Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine in Leicester, National Specialty Advisor for Tobacco at NHS England and Clinical Director for Prevention at NHS Midlands. Smoking is the biggest single preventable cause of lung cancer and numerous comorbidities that can influence treatment and survivorship. Over past 2 decades Sanjay has contributed to national implementation of hospital tobacco dependency treatment services in England, the development of NICE & BTS tobacco related clinical guidelines and quality standards, delivered national quality improvement programmes and produced several Royal College of Physician reports highlighting the continued gap between smoking prevalence, systematic interventions and health inequalities.
